Experienced Oak Timber Framer
Status: Full-time 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday (some Saturday work may be required)
Salary: From £30,000 DOE  

We are looking for an experienced oak timber framer to join our friendly team of framers in a fast-growing company based in Somerset.

Our projects cover the full range of oak timber frame buildings, from new build homes and extensions to outbuildings such as garages, car ports and garden rooms. We also provide pergolas, gazebos, porches, and ancillary outbuildings. We design and build some fantastic buildings for really interesting clients.

The right person would ideally fit in with the other members of staff here, have a driving license or be local enough to get to work easily. The chosen candidate must have the ability to follow design plans from start to finish to a very high standard. All oak frames use traditional jointing methods and are pegged using oak dowels and all are built in our workshop near Yeovil.  We then deliver to site and install the projects so some working away is required with all hotel and food provided for. Some frame builds are supply only and constructed in the workshop and delivered/collected.

The following would be desirable but not essential:

  • Carpentry qualifications: NVQ, City & Guilds etc.
  • CSCS card, H&S test, first aid, forklift, chainsaw, scaffold towers (training can be given)
  • 5 years’ experience in oak framing

 Role & Responsibilities:

  • Follow frame design plans to fulfil the project to a high standard.
  • Develop an all-round knowledge of our oak products and processes.
  • Ability to fabricate oak frames by use of traditional jointing methods. 
  • Care & attention to detail.
  • Tidy, productive, efficient
  • Load and unload delivery and collection vehicles. 
  • Re-saw timber sections via chainsaw and bandsaw.
  • Forward thinking, solutions focussed.
  • Comply with Company standards in Health & Safety, Fire and Emergency, thus providing a safe environment for colleagues. 
  • Work closely with manager to ensure operations run smoothly and safely. 
  • Ensure that the workshop and yard is clean and tidy.
  • Help develop and improve workshop and distribution processes. 
  • Carry out additional duties as and when required.
  • Great communication skills – Maintain effective communication with office staff, Director, and clients.

Trainee Oak Timber Framer position available for a carpenter seeking to train as an oak framer.

This is a Full-time role 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday (some Saturday work may be required)

Salary: From £12.00 per hour dependant on experience
